What is Christ The Saviour Anglican Church?
|
A new church
Christ the Saviour Anglican Church brings an orthodox Anglican witness of
God's promises in Jesus Christ to the Mount Vernon area of eastern Fairfax
County, Virginia. Our church reflects historic Christian faith, grounded in
Holy Scripture, with its emphasis on evangelism, discipleship, and mission.
|
|
Part of an ancient tradition
Although we are a "new" presence in the Mount Vernon area, Christ the Saviour
holds to the "faith once entrusted to the saints," to the
classic teaching of Holy Scripture and to the rich traditions of historic Anglicanism.
We are part of the Anglican District of Virginia
(ADV) which is part of the Convocation of Anglicans in North America
(CANA). Through CANA, a missionary effort sponsored by the
Church of Nigeria, Christ the Saviour
is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

|
What do we believe?
|
We are Christ-centered and mission-focused,
with a desire to bear authentic Christian witness to our young, and a heart
for those who seek the freedom God offers through redemption in Jesus
Christ.
|
|
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate who is the only means
of redeeming humanity from sin.
|
| |
We believe that the Bible is God's
authoritative Word for our lives. We believe Anglican theology and
practice, melding the best of Catholic and Protestant tradition, has a
unique role to play in the world today.
|
|
The Anglican tradition is founded on the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), the ordination guidelines of 1662,
and the Articles of Religion which are a statement of faith first adopted by the Church of England
during the 1500s (see pages 867ff. of the 1979 BCP).

Worship at Christ the Saviour Anglican Church
|
We welcome all to worship with us!
Our services reflect the richness and vitality of
Anglican liturgical traditions. We use the 1979 Book of Common Prayer with worship music
that is a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs of worship, inspiring all to come before
the throne of Grace and experience the Living God.
